For the 16th time, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
Our School
History
Parkway Elementary is a 2021 Nationally Distinguished Title 1 School located in the Green Run area of Virginia Beach. The school opened in September of 1987 with an enrollment of 977 students in grades K-6. The building cost 3.47 million dollars and it has 67,567 square feet sitting on fifteen acres of land. The outside playground includes a basketball court, softball field, challenge course, and an enclosed kindergarten playground area. The building now houses grades PreK-5 with a current enrollment of 548 students. The school consists of 32 classrooms with a total of 48 teachers. This includes Title One teachers, resource teachers, and specialists.
